The Holy Spirit controls our minds if we let Him
Romans 8:5-8
5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
Sometimes we think about things that God doesn't want us to. God loves us so much that He even cares about what we think about. It's hard to not think about bad things sometimes, or think about things that just have nothing to do with God.
God wants us to think about good things. And God things.
- 1Samuel 15- Saul and the Amalekites
{tell story}
- If Saul would have just done what he was supposed to do, the Lord wouldn't have rejected him.
- There's no telling what made Saul change his thinking from what God said, to what he wanted.
- Sometimes instead of doing the right thing our minds think something else and we do the wrong thing.
- It's hard to think the right things sometimes, that's why God gave us the Holy Spirit so we can think the way God wants us to think.
