Be Prepared
Matthew 28:19-20
Go and make disciples of every nation. Baptizing them
in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy
Spirit. Go and teach them to observe all I’ve
commanded and I’ll be with you till the end of the age.
Index card game
Instructions:
Have each kid write down reasons (excuses) that
people use for not coming to church. Three or more
each child depending on the size of the class.
Put the cards in a bowl and mix them up.
Line the kids up in two lines facing each other.
Give one line of kids a card face down.
The kids with the cards have to read the reason to the
person across from them and in the least amount of
time as possible the kid listening has to say why that
isn’t a good reason. Write down who answers quickest
to slowest by using 1-2-3. Whoever has the least
amount of numbers at the end wins.. Then swap the
lines so everyone gets a turn.
The bible instructs us to GO and make disciples. We
must be prepared for trials.
ASK: what are things that could get in the way of
people coming to Jesus/church?
-time
-people
-being scared
Read John 1:6-9
-We are to be witnesses for Jesus. He is coming back
and time is short. We are to constantly tell about Him.
Tie a piece of yarn around the kids arm as a reminder
to witness. These pieces of yarn will start
conversations at school, at home, or wherever. It
makes it easier to bring up Jesus in situations where it
may never come up.
Ask if there is anything else they need to know about
witnessing. Explain that if someone asks a question
they don’t know.. The correct way to answer is to say “I
don’t know. But I will find out and let you know”.
Instead of making up a answer that may not be
correct.
*Decorate boxes.
HOMEWORK:
Read John 1:6-9 during the week and write down
what it means to you. We will talk about it next
week in class. WITNESS!!! When people ask why
that string is tied on your arm answer them.
Don’t be afraid!! Write Matthew 28:19-20 in your
journal every day. Pray every day. Read your
bible every day. And write down when you’re
given chances to witness and what comes out of
it. See you next week!!
* My kids are bringing shoe boxes to put prayer requests in as a project.. so today we're going to start wrapping them. if you need prayer just email me at the email address on the lizzs blog home page and we will put your request in one of the boxes.. nothing more powerful than a bunch of kids praying for you.
