Pastor's Ponderings
"Living a Life That Matters"
In Ecclesiastes chapter one we begin to read the conclusions of Solomon's summation of life. Solomon was King of Israel, the son of the great King David, the fruit of an adulterous relationship with Bathsheba and a man who literally had any and everything he wanted. Solomon was known as the wisest man who ever lived, but this particular book, Ecclesiastes, was written at a time that Solomon was not living the life for God that he knew he should.
I encourage you to read the entire book but to capture the essence of what Solomon concluded in his old age, suffice it to say that his conclusion was "A life without God is meaningless". Even with all that Solomon had, wealth, fame, wisdom and so on, he realized the emptiness he felt was the absense of God in his life.
Without God, all the world has to offer is wasted on a temporary existence. It will all pass away and only that which is stored in heaven will benefit our eternity. Solomon begins his conclusion in chapter 12 verse one with these words: "Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come..." His exortation tells us that life will not be easy but in his wisdom now realizes it will be much easier to bear with God as your Senior Partner.
He ends the book with these words: "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil".
Living the life of self only leaves emptiness. Live a life that matters with God in the very center of everything. Begin Today!
